Published: St. Martin's Griffin - April 30th, 2019

Brooke has been hired to help Josephine, an eccentric millionaire, to protect the island she calls home, and to track down her long lost friends for a reunion. While Brooke looks into the past she discovers an old disappearance that was never solved. The High Tide Club is a beautiful story of old secrets, making amends, and quiet strength. Andrews masterfully blends her earlier mysteries with her more recent commercial fiction. It's the best of both worlds. - John

A Ladder to the Sky: A Novel Cover Image
ISBN: 9781984823021
Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 Days
Published: Hogarth - August 6th, 2019

This one's definitely going on my top 10 list for 2018. From the minute I picked it up I didn't want to do anything but read. Maurice Swift has always wanted to be a writer, and he'll stop at nothing to achieve that goal. The problem is he has trouble finding ideas for his novels. ALadder To The Sky is a satirical look at the literary world and ambition that will make you think twice before asking an author where they get their ideas from. If Tom Ripley and Maurice Swift met up, Tom Ripley would likely be watching his back (and his manuscripts!) - John

My Sister, the Serial Killer: A Novel Cover Image
ISBN: 9780525564201

Published: Anchor - July 30th, 2019

It starts with a phone call. Korede's sister just killed her boyfriend. She claims it was in self-defense, but she starts to wonder if that's the case because this isn't the first boyfriend Ayoola has killed. When Ayoola sets her eyes on a doctor at Korede's hospital, she starts to question how responsible she is for her sister. I'm obsessed with this one, it's sinister, compelling, chilling, and a LOT of fun! If you want a witty, dark satire, this is the book for you. Also HIGHLY recommended by McKenna and Sally! - John

Cat Kinsella, originally from Ireland, is now a young office with the police in London. A young woman is found dead, and during the investigation, it turns out that even though she has a different name, she is someone who Cat knew growing up. Cat believes her Dad is somehow involved, and faces a dilemma about whether to come clean with her superiors and tell them her suspicions, or try to protect her family.

This was a great debut, the characters were well written, and Cat is a really likeable character. This might just be one of my top books this year!

If you like the Peter James books, this is probably a good next read for you. - Rebecca

The Air You Breathe: A Novel Cover Image
ISBN: 9780735211001
Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 Days
Published: Riverhead Books - July 2nd, 2019

The Air You Breathe chronicles the story of two girls and their dreams of radio stardom in 1930s Brazil and career in Hollywood. I immediately fell under the books spell. The writing is so beautiful, and the characters so fully realized that I felt like I could almost hear their sambas. I kept wanting to track down old Sofia Salvador records to listen to when I read. I didn't want the book to end, and found myself sobbing as I read the last few pages. This is one I'll be thinking about for a long time. - John

Once Upon a River: A Novel Cover Image

Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 Days
Published: Atria/Emily Bestler Books - July 2nd, 2019

Diane Setterfield's Once Upon A River is absolutely magical. A tale passed down through the generations, part fairytale, part folklore, entirely intoxicating, I could not put this book down.  It's the ancient story of a dark, cold and stormy night -- when a bloodied stranger carrying a small  girl stumbles into a pub.  The proprietor and guests rally to tend them, only to find the girl is dead.  Or is she?

Beautifully written with flowing prose, Setterfield's newest offering will surely stand the test of time. - Brenda
