Sisters in Crime Virtual Meeting - November

The Houston Chapter of Sisters in Crime (SInC) will meet at MBTB monthly. For more information about SInC, please visit https://www.sistersincrime.org/.

The Houston chapter of SinC is doing something a little different in November. Instead of hosting a virtual Sunday meeting, we're offering a half-day workshop on November 14. It features Bernard Schaffer, a detective and author. The program will run virtually from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with several topics covered a lunch break included.

Bernard Schaffer is the author of the acclaimed Santero and Rein Thriller series, featuring detective Carrie Santero and her mentor, the troubled Jacob Rein. The Thief of All LightAn Unsettled Grave, and Blood Angel, are available from Kensington Books.

His western trilogy, Face of a SnakeSnake's Fury, and Hellsnake, will debut as part of the Ralph Compton Gunslinger Series from Berkeley Books in 2021.

Schaffer's award winning non-fiction book, Way of the Warrior: The Philosophy of Law Enforcement, is taught in universities and police academies around the world.

In addition to writing, Schaffer is a full-time police detective in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He has served in law enforcement for 22 years, with 15 of those years spent as a detective. He is a court-recognized narcotics expert, a child forensic interviewing specialist, and he has participated in over 2,000 hours of police training. In 2019, he arrested William Korzon for the murder of his wife in 1981, after a three year cold-case investigation. It is a rare example of murder charges being filed in a case where the victim’s body was never recovered.
