The year is 1966, and Ruth finds herself on her own with her husband, Ben, off at war and a mystery to solve. She and her children have settled in the mountains in an old house she has inherited from her aunt.

Before he leaves, Ben is preparing an old building on their property as a rental when he finds the bones of a child down in the attic walls. It becomes Ruth’s task to make a home for the children, establish a community, and help solve a mystery that will affect the people who share her hillside.
