Official Selection:
We're trying something with this throwback for March. I discovered the Lucy Stone series in September of 2020, and proceeded to tear my way through all 28 books and 8 novellas featuring Lucy Stone.
The books all stand on their own, and loosely revolve around a holiday. Meier plays with some of the conventions of the cozy genre. In this one, a man in an Easter bunny suit drops dead by page 10! Lucy is a mom of four, and a newspaper reporter in Tinker's Cove, Maine. I love her connection to the community as she tries to balance motherhood and crime solving. These books kept me thoroughly entertained for the last 18 months, and I wanted to introduce you to the series.
Bonus Selection:
Allie's first book, On Skein of Death, was last June's pick. Book 2 will be out April 5th, and Allie's going to be at the store to sign on May 20th! You can order signed copies at murderbooks.com/pleiter
Bonus Selection:
Callahan Garrity run the House Mouse cleaning service. Since she's a former police officer and a licensed PI (not an amateur sleuth) this technically doesn't count as a cozy, but still has a lot of the hallmarks of a great cozy. A healthy dose of Southern humor and a diverse cast make this whole series a great read. It was written in 1992, so it's a tad dated, but I thought that was part of the charm. I think these have a similar tone as the Leslie Meier series.
