Elizabeth Little has created a
powerhouse character in Jane Jenkins. The sharp-tongued, famous "it
girl" is out to prove to the world (and herself) that she did
not kill her mother, even after ten years of being incarcerated for
that same crime. I fell in love with Jane's darkly witty humor, but
what cinched this book for me is how masterfully the secret past of
Jane's mother is folded into the quietly sinister motivations of the
major players living in the small, twin, gold-rush towns of Adeline
and Ardelle. It's been a while since I've read a book with twists and
turns that felt so deeply satisfying and perfectly timed. Start
reading it early or you'll be up all night with this one! Also highly
recommended by McKenna, Sally & Brenda!
