April Sisters in Crime Meeting - In Store

Houston Sisters in Crime April Speaker: Forrest Rippey on "What would a real cop do?"

He will discuss the motivation for his books, and the situational responses Officers typically express and perform in most phases of Police Work. He will give an overview of his writing approach, and the process from rough draft to self-publishing. He hopes Crime writers will take his personal perspective on what Police Officers do and think, to help develop the characters in their work.

Forrest Rippey is a Virginian, son of a Naval Aviator, and a Registered Nurse. Attended Texas A & M, with a BS in Education, and varsity letters in Springboard diving. He performed with the Great American High Diving team, diving from as high as 100 ft., in live shows at amusement and theme parks. Forrest was a Police Officer in Alexandria, Virginia, and later in Houston Texas, with a short stint as the Chief of Police at the Port of Houston Authority. His police roles were in Patrol, Training, and Detective in the Burglary, White collar, and Homicide divisions, and also as a speaker with the Community services division. Forrest finished professional life as Security Director and Financial Crimes Investigator for several large Banks.  He has two sons who are both Sergeants with the Houston Police Department, and a daughter teaching special needs children.

This event will be held in store and broadcast via Zoom for SinC members. Walk-in attendees are welcome. Contact Sisters in Crime at sinchouston@gmail.com for more information.
