Matt's Staff Picks

Matt Keogh at Murder By The Book since 2011

Matt was born in Wyoming, raised in Colorado and migrated to the great state of Texas, which he now calls Home.   He spent many years as a business owner in the Dark Financial World, however, he became weary of his life slowly being sucked out of him, and decided it best to change directions.

Matt is a foodie at heart (even though he dislikes the term) and is also an aspiring Chili-Head. When Matt isn't reading, he also enjoys gaming, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family.

Some of Matt's favorite authors: C.J. Box, Jim Butcher, Brett Battles, John Ringo, Glen Cook, and F. Paul Wilson.

He never wanted to tell Joe Pickett about it, but Nate Romanowski always knew trouble was coming out of his past. Now it's here, and it may not only be the battle of his life-but of Joe's.

In 1995, Nate was in a secret Special Forces unit abroad when a colleague did something terrible. Now high up in the government, the man is determined to eliminate anyone who knows about it, and Nate knows exactly how he'll do it-by striking at Nate's friends to draw him out. The entire Pickett family will be a target, and the only way to fight back is outside the law. Nate knows he can do it, but he isn't sure about his straight-arrow friend-and all their lives could depend on it.

Also HIGHLY recommended by Anne!

The Expats is a wonderful new debut novel which is a well thought out sophisticated thriller that keeps you guessing till the end. Ex-CIA Agent Kate Moore gets her world turned upside down when her husband Dexter informs her that he just landed an incredible new job as a security IT consultant for a large bank in Luxemburg. They’ve always wanted to live abroad and raise their family in Europe and this new job will afford them that luxury. Just weeks after arriving in Luxemburg her husband becomes more and more distant and reluctant to tell her much about his job. She finds comfort in befriending another married couple of American Expats who have also just arrived to the country. Not long after developing this friendship, Kate begins to suspect that there might be something more to her new friends than meets the eye. Are they somehow from her CIA past, or perhaps they’re interested in something her husband may be involved in? One of the best debut novels I’ve read. Immediately after reading it, I wished I had something else to read by Pavone or perhaps watch the movie that has yet to be made. This novel gets my highest recommendation and I’m looking forward to future Pavone offerings. - Matt

The Presidential Campaign Trail, 2012: A political operative and a volunteer are brutally murdered while caught in a compromising position. Written in their blood on the wall of the crime scene: IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK. And with that, a centuries-old horror known only as the Boogeyman returns to taunt Nathaniel Cade, the President's Vampire. Against the backdrop of the 2012 presidential race, with the threat of constant exposure by the media, Cade and Zach must stop the one monster Cade has never been able to defeat completely. And they must do it before the Boogeyman adds another victim to his long and bloody list: the President of the United States himself.

Also highly recommended by Nolan!

Christopher Farnsworth will sign at MBTB on Friday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m. Visit the event page for more details.
